94 East was a group that Prince played some sessions for prior to his Warner Brothers record deal. Pepe Willis, the leader of the group, found a label to release these recordings at the height of Prince's popularity. A new double compact disc set was released in the mid-90's with several additional tracks Prince played on during the sessions. Both releases can be found in some European markets and United States import record shops.
Although Prince plays a variety of instruments on the recordings, he is only officially credited for co-writing one song. The tracks are all drowned in the disco era. Most do not include vocals and all are not too impressive. This recording is for avid listeners only.
