Howard Hewett - Allegiance

"Allegience" is a track that Howard Hewett did not do justice to. For some reason, he did not fit the smoothed out funkier edge sound of the track. Led by a slapped bass line, the track has a certain appeal in the context of a Prince track. The vocal line should have probably been sung by Howard without such force, which is oddly lost somewhat in the mix. The delivery ends up sounding somewhat forced for the nature of the song. Moreover, the song is more watered down than Prince would likely have played it and it hampers the sound that was probably intended.
