NPG Orchestra - Kamasutra

The Kamasutra is essentially a solo work. However, it is credited to the NPG Orchestra on the tape sleeve and CD face. The work was written as a wedding present for Mayte when they were wed on February 14, 1996. It was previewed on a sampler tape and then released, on cassette only, a few months later to 's 1-800-NEW-FUNK merchandise line. The CD was not released until it was included as a gift to those who purchased the version of Crystal Ball sold via the phone line. Mayte formed a dance company in mid-1997, which only performed a few times. The dance company's second act was a performance to the Kamasutra ballet. The ballet itself is decent, but certainly not 's greatest work. The major drawback is that the string parts are played on keyboards verses a live orchestra. This causes the music to suffer significantly and sound somewhat cheesy. Still, one has to give credit as an artist. The Kamasutra was his first foray into a full fledged orchestra and he had the courage to release the composition to the general public.

Whilst in the deepest sleep- Mayte reminded that before he set off 2 live his 1st life on earth, they should devise a plan so that he would one day recognize her as his true soulmate. This was the plan-

4 their last lives on earth she will choose the name PRINCESS Mayte and he - the name PRINCE.

They will pick fathers with the same 1st name -JOHN.

Her middle name will be his father's 1st name and middle initial combined- JANNELL as in JOHN L.

Prince's mother's name is Mattie DELL

Mayte's mother is named NELL

And Prince's last name was NELSON as in NELL'S son.

They agreed that Mayte's family would one day bring her 2 see Prince perform a concert in Barcelona [July 25, 1990], Spain and then somewhere in Germany [July 3, 1992].

Prince 1st sees Mayte standing with her mother, Nelly, outside the arena in Germany.

He jokingly remarks 2 Rosie Gaines, with whom he is conversing at the time, "look Rosie, there's my future wife!"

Neither he nor Rosie take the remark seriously.

Nelly convinces Mayte 2 show Prince a tape of her bellydancing at a local show.

Nelly knows that once he sees her daughter move...

They give a videotape 2 one of Prince's dancers- Kirk, whose last name happens 2 be JOHNSON as in JOHN'S son.

He hurriedly brings the tape 2 Prince and after one glance...Mayte and Prince become friends.

Like sister and brother, they will always stand up 4 each other against any adversary.

Soon Mayte joins the New Power Generation, and often asks Prince 2 visit her family in Puerto Rico.

He promises her one day he will.

Although a long time coming, the day he keeps his promise, it will change his life 4 ever.

His most recent album at that time- will be a collection of love songs, mostly written 4 and about mayte.

And it will pose an interesting dilemma: The album's title is an unpronounceable hieroglyph that merges the male and female sex symbols 2gether.

Thus creating something that although Prince will use many times before, will now seem 2 represent 2 him- the perfect love.

And yet, no one will know what 2 call this new symbol.

No sound seems fitting 4 what Prince will believe 2 be the melding of 2 souls that 2gether create one.

So this day in Puerto Rico he prays...

All alone, staring at the ocean, he implored the heavens 4 an answer-

"What is the symbol?

What does it really mean?"

A Voice says 2 him, "It's your name."

Much has been said about Prince's decision 2 change his name 2 this unpronounceable symbol, but sometimes freedom moves in mysterious ways and in the end it's "whatever peanut butter's your jelly."

Most understanding of all is Mayte- his true soul mate, who will simply say with a smile, "[Eye] never called U Prince anyway."
