The Family is one of the favorite projects among avid Prince listeners. The group itself was a result of The Time breakup. Prince gathered the remaining members, who wished to participate, and formed the group. The album itself was bizarre, but quite quirky and excellent as a result. Prince penned the entire album, with the exception of "River Run Dry."
Most will notice the inclusion of "Nothing Compares 2 U." This was the first appearance of the track Sinead O' Conner later covered with great success commercially. However, The Family's version is quite different from Sineads as it has more instrumentation and is not developed as well.
