PRINCE
Chaos And Disorder (Warner Bros.)
Beware the album disclaimer: "Originally intended 4 private use only,
this compilation serves as the last original material recorded by (Prince)
4 Warner Brothers Records."
In other words, Prince doesn't want you to blame him if the album sucks.
Pretty thin excuse for a record (out Tuesday) and God knows there's no
shortage of Prince product, but the Purple One does kick out the jams for
one of his most rocking recent sets.
Fans of his guitar style should lick up "I Like It There" and "Into The
Light" to name just a couple, and his funk fans get to jam on "Dig U Better
Dead", which implies that Prince feels under-appreciated.
That particular problem might be solved if he would spend more time crafting
songs and less time launching corporate battles and senseless name games.
His innate talent sees him though this Chaos, but only just.
